Teeth re-contouring and reshaping is used by cosmetic dentists to correct crooked, chipped, and overlapping teeth. During the procedure, the teeth are "sculpted" by removing a small amount of tooth structure and/ or by using a small amount of tooth colored laminate to build up the teeth. Contouring and reshaping of the teeth results in smoother and more uniformly and evenly spaced teeth. This procedure can also be used to round out pointy teeth, to
reduce the length of lower teeth, and to

reduce the width of teeth that overlap others. The procedure usually does not require the use of an anesthetic.
The procedure may take several visits to the dentist to achieve the desired results.
The cost varies considerably based on the amount of work that needs to be done. It can cost between $100 and $1000 for the whole mouth.
Some people do experience temporary sensitivity to heat and cold.
The results should be permanent.
